Living in the southwest, we get an opportunity to try many different kinds of margaritas. This recipe is so refreshing and light and delicious. The proportions might look unusual for a margarita, but it really has a perfect balance. The key is probably the agave nectar, which acts as a binder and gives it a note of natural sweetness.
I think you'll really love it!
Makes 2.
Fill a shaker 3/4 with big ice cubes and add the following:
5 oz reposado (barrel aged to 11 months) tequila
2 oz Patron Citronge
1 oz agave nectar (use the Milagro brand from the liquor section; the nectar sold with honey will be musky and not mix as well. If you can't find Milagro, use the lightest nectar you can find)
1 oz fresh squeezed lime juice
1 oz seltzer water
Shake for 22-25 seconds, which should be about when it's too cold to hold the shaker anymore if you have enough ice in it.
Pour into highball glasses filled with ice. No salt.
